Private Education VS Public education
All parents want to provide their child with the best
elementary education program available. In New York City some parents end up
having to choose between a public school and a private school. Which ones are
better and more importantly, which school is best for your child?
This debate has been around for quite a long time in New
York. There are so many things parents need to look into when evaluating a
possible school for their child (faculty programs, education quality, teachers’
skills, and more).
So, what’s better for your child? Private school education or
Public school education? Even though it’s extremely tough to compare the two in
a general sense, here’s a rundown of points why we believe private schooling is
better than general public schooling in New York City.
·
Private
schools have a more reformed education system
Public schools are complicated and often have their
educational structure somewhat influenced by the city and state's political
systems. These structures and models may not change as frequently as private
educational structures do. This is significant because the learning experience
needs to be updated on a constant basis, to reflect the changes happening on in
the world.
·
There is
less bureaucracy in private schools
Private schools don’t always have to follow all state
regulations. This helps them spend less time dealing with bureaucracy and more
time developing the educational model. As a result, teachers can focus more on
creative thinking as opposed to test scores.
·
The class
size of a private school is usually smaller
The size of a private school classroom is usually smaller
when compared to the classroom of a public school. Children learn best in an
environment where they have less people around them, as they are allowed more
attention by the teachers. In return, they grow more confident among their
peers and begin contributing more to the class. A small class size is also
vital because with less students, teachers can focus on particular needs of
every students and allow more time with students who may require some extra
attention and care.
·
Parent
involvement is encouraged in private schools
Parents tend to be more involved with private schools then
with public ones. There seems to be a sense of community within private school
parents that is sometimes lacking within the public school's community of
families. While this is not always the case, it is recommended parents pay
close attention to this element when researching possible schools for their
children.
Conclusion – While every child is an
individual that has unique needs and abilities, it is highly encouraged that
parents who are able to afford to look into the unique attributes a private elementary education school may offer their child.
